Save the date! This year’s National Flash Fiction Day (NFFD) will take place on Saturday 6th June, with a list of activities designed to showcase the best in flash fiction and encourage even more readers and writers to join in and celebrate and create some incredible words.
I’ve long admired shorter forms of writing and NFFD caught my interest in 2018. I’ve enjoyed following the site since then and have discovered some brilliant writers thanks to the work of volunteers organising the event.
As part of the celebrations the site will be running #FlashFlood2020 – a literal flood of short fictions posted on the site every ten minutes or so from 00:01 until 23:59. Each year the team puts forward a selection of the work for awards and publications such as Best Small Fictions, Best Microfictions and Best of the Net.
I am delighted to say I am starting off this year’s flood with a short flash I wrote called ‘The Anchor’. It will go live on the site at 00.01 6th June 2020.
This piece started out in a Kathy Fish workshop last year. Kathy is a brilliant writer and her workshops are a whole lot of fun. Highly recommended!
See you on the 6th June…
